Delhi-NCR schools receive bomb threats | IN PICS
Delhi Police said that nothing suspicious was found during their checks at more than 100 schools in Delhi that received bomb threats through email.
Over 100 schools in Delhi and at least two schools in Noida received bomb threats through email on Wednesday morning, leading to large-scale evacuations.
While panicked parents gathered outside the schools, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the bomb threat emails seemed to be fake.
Delhi Police said that it had carried out a search of all schools that received the bomb threats and found no evidence of any danger.
Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and Delhi Fire Service personnel were dispatched to schools as police began receiving dozens of calls regarding the bomb threat.
Delhi Public School's (DPS) Dwarka and Vasant Kunj units, Mother Marry School in East Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School, Amity School in Pushp Vihar and DAV School in South West Delhi were among the 80 schools that received the threat.
The principal of DPS Noida said in a statement, "Delhi Public School, Noida, received an email threatening the safety and security of our students.
Initial investigations indicated that the IP address used to send the emails was from Russia, according to sources. However, Delhi Police suspected that the IP address might have been obscured using a VPN.
The server corresponding to the IP address used to send the emails is based overseas, and traces of Russian language were found in the IP address.
