India Today's reality check reveals pothole-riddled roads in Chennai IT corridor

India Today conducted a reality check in Chennai, riding a two-wheeler through Medavakkam to highlight the dangerous condition of local roads. The stretch is riddled with huge potholes that shake vehicles and put commuters’ safety at serious risk. 

Residents told reporter Anagha that the road has remained in this state for years, with repeated complaints falling on deaf ears. We then visited Pallikaranai, one of the city’s IT hubs, where roads are a mix of broken tar and uneven cobblestones, making daily travel a challenge. 

With the monsoon now underway, standing water and waterlogging worsen the hazards, turning already unsafe roads into potential death traps. Tall government claims of monsoon preparedness stand in stark contrast to the reality on the ground, leaving citizens frustrated and anxious. Local residents demand urgent repairs and better civic oversight, saying the administration has largely ignored repeated requests.
