Video: Two flung 15 feet into air after garbage truck rams bike in Ahmedabad

A speeding garbage collection truck rammed a two-wheeler in Ahmedabad, leaving two people injured after they were flung nearly 15 feet on impact.

The incident, which occurred around 7 pm on February 5 in the city's Vastral area, was captured on CCTV.

According to police, the door-to-door garbage collection vehicle was allegedly being driven at high speed when it collided violently with a two-wheeler. The rider and a woman pillion passenger were thrown off the vehicle and landed several feet away on the road. Both were rushed to a hospital for treatment immediately after the accident.

Senior police officer AY Patel said the 26-year-old driver of the garbage truck, identified as Mukesh Dangi, has been arrested. The vehicle has been seized and CCTV footage recovered as part of the investigation. Legal action has been initiated against the accused driver, he added.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to the agency responsible for the door-to-door garbage collection service, directing it to remove the driver and imposing a penalty in connection with the incident.
