Zomato ditched its proposal for green uniforms for its 'Pure Veg Fleet' service on Wednesday amid backlash on social media.Â
The decision came due to concerns that it could lead to a portion of its vegetarian customer base abandoning its regular service, as stated by founder Deepinder Goyal.Â
It was announced by the Zomato CEO in under 24 hours following the launch of the 'Pure Veg Fleet', which was intended to deliver food ordered through the 'Pure Veg Mode' while sporting green uniforms.
"This will ensure that our red uniform delivery partners are not incorrectly associated with non-veg food and blocked by gated communities. Our riders' physical safety is of paramount importance to us. We now realise that even some of our customers could get into trouble with their landlords, and that would not be a nice thing if that happened because of us," said Goyal on X, stating the reason behind scrapping of the green uniform.
