In an exclusive interview with Business Today, Vijaypat Singhania, former Chairman of Raymond, expressed deep disappointment witnessing his son Gautam Singhania "breaking up" the company. The elder Singhania disclosed that he had 'given everything' to Gautam, including the business, and was now living on money that had, by accident, been left over.Â
In a dramatic description of the family tensions, he described his son as a very arrogant person, suggesting that this was the root cause of the present conflict. He indicated that he expected the dispute to potentially lead to a major legal battle, possibly over succession. His daughter-in-law, Nawaz Modi Singhania, as well as his granddaughters, also figures in this unfolding family drama. Interestingly, he offered greater support to Nawaz, and was more critical of his own son's actions.
