In an exclusive interview with India Today TV's Managing Editor Marya Shakil, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal called GST 2.0 the most game-changing and transformational reform the country has seen in several decades.
Piyush Goyal said, "Well, first of all, I would like to compliment and thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what I believe is the most game-changing and transformational reform we have seen in several decades. This is the Diwali gift which he had promised on 15th August, and as we all know, he always delivers on his promises."
Goyal also outlined the rationale behind the reforms, which aim to lower prices and simplify laws to improve both the ease of doing business and ease of living. He addressed criticism from the opposition, defending the timing of the measures by linking them to the growth of domestic manufacturing supported by schemes like PLI. The minister asserted that the reforms are a crucial step in India's journey towards a developed nation.
