NDA govt committed to the welfare of Dalits, Muslims: Chirag Paswan

LJP leader Chirag Paswan on Monday defended the Narendra Modi government over the issues of atrocities against Dalits, Muslims and other downtrodden communities. Paswan said, "I have no doubt that the present NDA government is committed to the welfare of the Dalits and Muslims. The government launched a series of welfare schemes for Dalits and minority communities."

Paswan countered the argument of Rashid Kidwai of the Congress who said that the lot of Dalits worsened after the Modi government came into power at the Centre. Paswan said that the "four-and-a-half-year-old NDA government can't be held responsible for the poor state of affairs of the Dalits."

"The Congress ruled for 56 of 70 years since Independence. If the Dalits and Muslims are backward, it can't be blamed on the present government. The Congress must also take the blame," Paswan said.
