Karunanidhi meets daughter Kanimozhi in Tihar jail

For a second time in a month, an emotional M Karunanidhi met his daughter Kanimozhi, arrested in the 2G spectrum scam case, at the Tihar jail in New Delhi on Tuesday and spent nearly 45 minutes with her.

Karunanidhi, who arrived in Delhi on Tuesday, met Kanimozhi at the assistant jail superintendent's office and spent over 20 minutes with her without his family members around.

The 88-year-old DMK President drove to the jail at around 4.30 PM accompanied by his wife Rajathi Ammal, his son and Union Minister M K Alagiri.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected bail pleas of DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV managing director Sharad Kumar in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case.

The apex court asked the duo to approach the CBI special court once again for bail after framing of charges. It observed that under Section 437 of the CrPC, the accused could re-apply for bail before the lower court.
